You'll see a wide spectrum of feelings on that particular item. Some swear by it...some have had no luck with it.
I've used it down to about 36 deg with no problems whatsoever. I think a lot depends on the rest of your gear, and how warm/cold you naturally sleep.
the HHSS is a good idea... saying that i had no luck with it along with a few others
i was cold at 50F .... i also had condensation problems with it
if you can pick one up cheap i say try it
but if you ask me ... for the same price goto AHE and get a KAQ it will work on any hammock and it's a better option then that HHSS IMO
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

And so many, many more! Do a search for HHSS or spell it out, and you will find endless posts both pro and con.
I have the HHSS for my HH Explorer Deluxe Asym Zip.
I have stopped using it.
It is not as good as down.
Now I use down from Hammock Gear.
Their products are immaculate.

I am very pleased with my SS. I toss and turn a lot at night and my SS stays in place. My UQ will slide/pop out of place sometimes when I move around in my sleep.
I have been down to the low 30's with my SS, and I have not noticed any condensation issues. On the down side the space blanket does make a lot of noise(at least to me inside the hammock) when I toss and turn, and the SS does not pack down as small as my UQ.
If you can find a good deal on one I think the SS is deffinately worth trying.

Just used mine for the first time the night before last. It was around 35 degrees F and I used my 35 degree bag, along with my base layers and a winter hat. Somewhere in the night I put on another hat and some glove liners and another pair of socks. The sleeping bag isn't the warmest but this was one of the better nights I've had in it temp wise. I did get some condensation but only in one spot and it dried quickly in the air. The cause of the condensation was that in my sleep I rolled on to my side and my breath went through the side of the hammock. I've got a couple remedies cooked up and will see what works (.....buff or neck gaiter over my mouth or the easiest don't sleep in that position....). I like the idea of the SS because I can augment it with my puffy jacket or other gear. I'm fresh on the learning curve and will see what happens. I will say that I plan to get a 2q Zq zipper mod for a more efficient ingress/egress into my sleeping bag and if they can I'm thinking of having the bottom entrance of the undercover sown shut, so that the added insulation can be laid out easier and not fallout. I will be keeping the hammock's bottom entrance open for bug season though. Well, the weather's warmed up again--further testing delayed.
Seems to me that if you are getting a lot of condensation it's too warm for the space blanket or you have too much top quilt and are sweating.
I use a s.s. an have had it down to 17f never had a prob. but dont like the bulk. I put it all together before I start out cause for me it's to much to set up at a camp site in the cold.I do want to try a down uq just saving up for one.
