    One more in South Alabama

I'm a new hanger located in south Alabama. I used to mess around sparingly with an ENO double nest, but have just ordered a Warbonnet Blackbird, whoopie slings, and Dutch/Whoopie tarp ridgeline. Will be ordering a KAQ New River UQ, KAQ Owyhee TQ and an OES Maccat Deluxe Tarp ASAP. Can't wait to get out more and put it all to use.

    Welcome from Mobile.
That is what I call jumping in with both feet. I am still fooling around with my ENO myself. I am a bit of a tightwad, so this may be my way for years to come.

I am more of a Snorkel, Kayak, Backpack myself.

I currently snorkel, dive, bike, and am trying to find a Tarpon 120 to get into kayaking.

I'm not too far from you, I'm in Andalusia AL and actually may be living down in Mobile myself this time next year. I actually wouldn't mind picking ya brain a little about the area if you don't mind.

Welcome to HF from Bama...............We have a group hang scheduled for the weekend of Oct 21. Take a look at the thread:http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=39397. If this doesn't work go to the hangout forum and look for the thread. I have most of the gear you are buying and can offer some of it for trial at the hang if you would like.

bigbamaguy > thanks for the invite. I'd give anything to take you up on the offer but unfortunately I'm in a wedding that weekend. Maybe next time.

Welcome to the forum from the Jersey Shore! Looks like you are rolling out with some fine gear from the gitgo.

While I've lived on the Jersey Shore for the last 21 years, I actually grew up in LA (Lower Alabama); Elba, to be specific. Then I moved to the big city Montgomery, but still spent a lot of time in LA. It's great to see so many Alabamians represented on HF.

I've done some camping and hiking in the West, the Northeast, and in Europe. However, there is nothing like camping and hiking in a place that runs in your blood. When I'm in Alabama, I feel such a connection to the earth, to every plant and animal, to every microbe in the soil. It's my home, and will always be.

I look forward to getting down there with y'all for a group hang sometime. I think it would be great for body and soul to be back on the soil that raised me!

Welcome aboard from Florida. With all that gear you better get out and use it and enjoy the fun!
