I was wondering where would be the best (cheapest) place to buy Amsteel 7/64 in Australia?
Or would it be better to get it here or from the US?
I have done a quick google search but everything is in the US.
Thanks.

You can buy lengths of an equivalent from Whitworths. They also sell webbing to make tree straps.
However you can buy ready made whoopies and tree straps incl postage to Oz from the US for less $$, from gear makers here on the forums.

Ok thanks, I'll go check it out.
Same here, it was cheaper for me to get a ready made set sent to NSW than to get the raw materials. Strange world...
I bought some (with other DIY stuff) from DIYGearSupply 0.25 per foot.
Yeah at 4-6 bucks a meter here in Australia, i am going to start buying the rope from the USA. I won't buy the woopies because i like ropework too much to spend money on something I can make in 2 mins, but in not buying Aussie amsteel anymore!
Thanks for all your replys.
It look like that if I end up getting it, DIYGearSupply I will get it from, as well as some other goodies he's got.
I have spent a fair bit of time looking for a cheap local supplier of Amsteel, with no luck. Thanks to the info here I have now ordered from DIYGearSupply along with a few other bits and pieces. Thanks for the info. Now all I have to do is sit back and wait for the postman
I got mine from http://www.ropemelbourne.com.au/index.php. NB: Dyneema = Amsteel. Pricing seemed very reasonable and fast delivery.

Did you pay the price on the calculator?
I bought 40' (12m) from DIYGearsupply for US$10
12m dyneema from ropemelbourne comes to AU$48 on their calculator...
Freight for the whole order from DIY was US$12.95. Maybe 1/3 of the order was the amsteel.
Hmm. I'd love to support the local traders, but not at that price...
