I notice quite a difference with my 25" wide, 2.5" thick NeoAir. It spreads out the sides so much that my shoulders barely graze the sides. It is very comfy.
I just built my Dad a bridge hammock that was double layered so he could put his pads between the two layers. I have a old thermarest air pad and a wool blanket that keeps me toasty around the 30 degrees. I also know the Ber has made his bridges double layered to accommodate pads.
I hemmed the head and foot end separately for easy adjustments to the pads.
