I made this for a PIF and it was actually pretty easy to make. I guess I made my channels a little too small because out of everything, threading the shock cord through the channels took the longest.

Man that is a good looking bug net.

nice.
just kinda wondering if you used Tulle (?) material or no-see-um mesh.

Is it me, or does it seem like there's a lot of unnecessary net under the hammock? I've been wondering that ever since seeing fronkey's video where he doesn't mention cutting anything off the width of the fabric, but it doesn't seem like the full width is there.
I do really like this design. Nice job Syb!

Thank you sir!
I got this material from Joann's while traveling on business. It isn't no-see-um (it's a little softer and not as stiff) but the weave is about as close to no-see-um.
There is a lot of depth (under the hammock) to the bug net and I discovered a few reasons why:
1) You want to make sure you're not compressing any insulation
2) When you tighten the shock cord, it shortens and there is a little less hanging below the hammock - nice to have some leeway.
3) You have to account for the occupant's weight and allow that sag - measure from ridgeline down to the saggiest part of the hammock which is your butt.
I think you could use less material and I'm sure there are some gram weenies (I love you guys, it's a term of endearment) that would build it differently. I might try less on my next attempt for my own hammock but this was a PIF to a friend so I went with Fronkey's initial dimensions.
Thanks! It's easier than you think to make it.
Oh and I did weight it: 10.65 oz. It's a lot of material but after testing quickly yesterday I found out it worked very well and I personally don't care about that kind of weight penalty.

This bugnet was made for me and I can't say thank you enough. I look forward to using it. By the way I am going to go through some gear I have laying around and do a give away to pass it on and try to pickup so good karma.

I made one to Fronkey's dimensions, but probably longer to cover my 11' hammock, out of tulle. With a little stuff sack I made for it it came out to 2.65 oz if I'm not mistaken.
Syb, when I sew my cord channels, I do it with the cord in the channel. Much easier that way and I can use the cord wrapped fabric as a stop on one side of my pressure foot to help keep the seams straight.
