Warbonnet Edge + DIY Doors in Winter

    Will I live?

I live in Kansas. I will be doing some Ozark Trail trips this fall and winter. Temps as low as 20 degrees.

Also using 20* hammack gear UQ, 5.0 oz Climashield MYOG TQ and am willing to wear my clothes to bed.

I have concerns about the wind though. I think if too much wind were to make it under I could be in trouble. Thoughts?

Only way to find out is to try it in a safe environment like your backyard! I would add a UQ protector or a sock as if there is enough wind it can rob you of heat very quickly so having a barrier of some sort will help to mitigate it!

That's a great combo for winter. Just pitch the tarp low when you're expecting a lot of wind.

I really like the WB doors. They don't require separate stakes since they attach to the tarp corners.

Interesting. Hadn't heard of UQ Protectors. I should be able to sew some breathable rip stop to fit the 3/4 Phoenix UQ.

Hopefully I won't need it though.

If out in colder climates like winter my choice would be for a full length UQ Protector!

I've used my edge with a small tarp acting like doors at one end when in a nice little storm last spring. Worked fine (just made sure the covered end was facing the wind). I'm sure that diy doors would work though I'd probably make them on the larger side just to increase coverage a bit.
