I got the wife the same way out at the fall sprawl. I didn't have a hammock for her and my son hasn't tried sleeping in his over night yet. So I had to set up the dome tent for them and I slept in my ENO DN under my blue sky tarp (wally word 8x10) as Captain smiley called it. The next afternoon she looked at me and started asking me about this whole hammock thing. So instead of saying to much I walked her over to my rig and put her in it with her book and 20min later all i heard from her was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. After she woke up she was sold ( VICTORY ). Now she and my son are asking for one with a bug net attached. I'm eying 2 GT skeeter beeters from amazon right now.
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.

My wife has been hammocking for a couple of years. She spent one night last week on a lean-to floor followed by two nights in my... uh, her HH Expedition. Seems she's been "reborn" to hammocking or, as she said, "Reminded how nice hammocks are."

    Welcome to the learning curve.

    Nice post.
My pack isn't much larger than most of the other hikers I see out there and it is generally quite a bit lighter. Buuuuuuuut, twasn't cheap.

Maybe it wasn't the smartest investment, especially since I never sell anything, but folks can call me "Forest" all they want while I snore the night away.

Great write up, glad you enjoy hanging so much. You might have her try sleeping in a hammock before you buy everything for her.

My wife looked at the hammock and said there is no way that it would be cofortable to sleep in, and then she took a nap in it and now loves it.

although making the change can be pricey it is well worth it when you wake up in the morning and look over at your fellow campers and see them moaning, groaning, and rubbing their backs while you hop out of the hammock refreshed and happy!!! next thing on the wish list..... a sewing machine and plans for diy gear.
