I carry a hammock with me even when I am just on a day hike so I can take a comfortable break if needed. I have surprised a couple of hikers I have run into when they saw how fast I set up my hammock and climb in for a break from the hike.

I got my wife into hammocks by getting her a BB for a B'day present acouple of years ago and after she tried it out in the back yard and fell asleep in it she was hooked. She doesn't want to backpack anymore but when we go car camping she wants her hammock.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

i think you jumped the gun .... no need to jump down my throat
Oh dear GLP, you misunderstood, I did not intend to jump down your throat. No gun jumping, wasn't offended or concerned about your comment at all Dang, sometimes I hate this method of communication because of misunderstanding.

I had a little tongue in cheek going with the weight thing only to emphasize that it really is not a central issue when comfort is such a great benefit of hanging. Sorry, friend. My intention was not well communicated.

Oh, a GD is ground dweller.
