    NY NJ CT hiking

I do not want to organize a Hang.

Yet, would like to introduce a possible declaration of NY NJ CT hanging hikers who may wish to have spontaneous hikes.
the weather is good, anyone want to meet on a trail
( personal preference the AT ).

In PA, at 501 shelter on AT, members have met for swiftly arranged hikes.

So : this is an invitation to declare you may be a member who is up for a hike with short ( days, weeks ) advance notice.

I live in NYC, an hour drive is nice.

Good idea and very community minded, but the planning of generic non hammock related hikes is beyond the scope and mission of HF. This site is primarily and fundamentally about hammocks.

Perhaps you could form a meetup group, or if the hike is AT specific you could post it on Whiteblaze.net

    Ok.

This is addressing hammock hangers ( third line ).

Heard how hangers are sometimes meeting to hike at 501.

How is an invitation to other members to hike and hang done?
Would like to let members express possible dates and locations.

The intention is to have 2 or 3 day hangs.
Not planned months in advance, but close to the actual time.

If you would like to organize possible, spontaneous, swiftly planned hikes with short advanced notice, perhaps this forum would not be the best medium to arrange them with, as communication is asynchronous and sometimes quite slow to occur. If this isn't a setback for you, then I'd suggest looking at how others here have set up their trips and structure yours similar to theirs.

Since you state that you aren't interested in organizing a hang, it gets a little bit confusing as well since that's generally what we DO here... I think some confusion might be due to semantics regarding what constitutes a "hang". IMO any place that hammockers arrange to meet and hang out could be considered a "hang".
