How is it false information? He says he doesn't like something and that he believes there's got to be a better way, maybe there is.
He never once says i'm right everyone else is wrong...
Anyway.. I don't think it warrants all the attention its getting on here.
Just my thoughts.. Nothing more to say on it..
On to better things
i can point out a few things from the video that he was wrong about
900 fill down is being used by many vendors and has been for over a year..
he stated he is waiting till vendors start using 900 fill down... they already are
he also stated getting a UQ now is a waste of money and you should wait till a cuben UQ comes out... again there are vendors using Cuben for UQ and TQ has been for a while now Marshall Law has been using Cuben since it came out if i remember
and not everyone will pay the price for Cuben ..... your talking a $100-200 difference in price from one made of ripstop
also using IX as a "pad" will lead to condensation
then he has another video telling hangers they don't need tree straps...
ok .. some trees might not take damage that may be true
but it only takes one person to go to a state park hang there hammock by wrapping line around a tree ..damage the tree and no more hanging in that park.. ask anyone that lives in FL ....
and are you going to remember ever type of tree that will not take damage from line... and whats the odds of finding 2 of them thats the right spacing to hang from ?
so yes he is feeding people bad information
again it's called do your homework
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
also IX can rip very easy ... there is a reason UQ's made out of it take extra care... whats going to happen when you grab that pad made out of it and try to move it around with your weight on it?
it will rip .....
listen we can go all day about this... point is i don't care what he wants to try i say go for it ... it's his attitude ...Hammock Dogma?
and bad information he is feeding new hanger plain and simlpe
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
i agree with this statement, if you want people to respect you and to be "nice" as tinny is always talking about you should treat others the same way. IMO whenever someone shows a little criticism on an idea of his, he blows up and sounds very cocky.
"i just want to hear those 3 words i was wrong" said tinny
Hey folks, everyone please take a deep breath. The direct comments about Tinny as a person have to stop now, or this thread will have to be closed. Full stop.
As to whether he's giving out some bad info...well that's his own doing, not HF or its members..... We are here to help spread good info and discussion about hammocks, but not to crusade or proselytize about 'best uses' all over the net.
Maybe something interesting will become of the IX experiments...maybe not. We'll just have to watch and see.
But it's not worth the effort (or going to be tolerated) to besmirch someone for holding an opinion that's contrary to yours. Especially when it was not even posted here.

i use a pe foam pad i built in my double layer hammock. mine weighs 9 oz its 24 by 60 and i have been down 40 in it with no problem. Its a pad just like any other pad and has the same problems that any ccf pad has big bulky ,doesnt breath. it has one advantage over the blue wally world pads its more flexible that is it. mine is glued together as i and thread injectors dont mix well. It doesnt rip when i move it around. It works for me for now. insultex or pe foam can work as a pad but compare it to a pad not an under quilt 2 totaly different animals.
welcome to planet earth no one gets out alive
I'd love to comment on this, but I better not. There's a french saying I have read on a cross somewhere in France on the way of St. James: "A chacun sa croix"...
The gist out of it, personally, is to stick with hammocks and leave those other things to the others...
It takes a great deal of courage to throw new ideas out for everyone to criticize. I'll give him credit for having the balls to do so. As mentioned, if you don't like him don't watch him. He's not trying to convert people, only tossing out new ideas he is working on.
