Mini Carabiners

I just bought some last week from wallyworld.
They are 5 grams each and are 97€ for a set of two...

Some really inexpensive biners have have gate faces that simply slide beside one another without any means of "hooking together" to prevent the stretching of the ring.

You talk of a tongue and groove fit, so it sounds like these have a means of "closing the ring."

They're nice and small, probably and inch and a half long.

Just received my order of 30 of these. With shipping, they worked out to $0.56 each.

While small, the rope forces are exerted on the backbone and don't stretch the gate so they should be solid in the field.

What kind of load bearing capacity is needed for tarps and bear bags? The nightize plastic s biners are cheap but they bend with a small load. Their metal s biner is rated at 10lbs. There's all kinds of cheap biners out there, I just don't know if they're strong enough.

I have been using the JRB biners for Bear baggin and UQ attachment for the past 4 yrs without issue! I just recently switched to Dutch's new UQ hooks for the UQ in place of the JRB biners and I am startin to like em!

For tarp use, the Nite Ize metal S biners rated at 10 pounds are sufficient. For bear bag use, I would want something more durable. I use a Ursack for my bear bag, so I don't have to hang it. However, I have the bear bag throw line kit that Arrowhead Equipment sells and that uses one of the mini carabiners that he also sells. So I would suspect that they have a decent load rating on them for that purpose. I just wouldn't hang my hammock off them and expect them to hold.

Those carabiners that str8dog posted look like they will serve the purpose for bear bags and tarps too.
