    I'd definitely go with the Necchi. As gdw said belts, parts etc. are available. They are built like a battleship. The BU Nova is the only sewing machine on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.

    personally i'd rather have a necchi or piaf. but being a cheap consumer- i'd have to say that 50's era singer boat anchors, are a **** good bargain!! i am in the process of refurbishing a 15-91 i got back in aug. imho- the availability of parts along with advice for this work horse surpasses and other brand. fwiw- i didn't need to refurbish the machine as it seemed to work fine as bought ( i did need to buy a replacement power cord) best cost me 20$u.s. ( cabinet model) if i find a necchi close to that price i'll jump on it, untill then i'll use this one .
