Sticky pad

Hi
I am reading this thread, Cascade Designs thermarest hammock pad and I got to thinking that I could use a blue ccf pad that I have and attach sections of velcro to it and sew corresponding sections to my hammock to stop the pad from moving around.
Has anyone tried this? think it's a lame idea?

I don't know if I would put holes in the hammock body and weaken it by sewing on patches of Velcro. You can paint stripes of silicone or seam sealer on the pad and it will help to keep it from sliding around.

Has anyone thought about using shelf liner?

I use the stuff all over my house between to surfaces to keep everything in line.

yeah, that idea has been mentioned before... sewing velcro to the hammock & pad, but i still think it would be asking for trouble sewing to the hammock body... especially something that would be taking that kind of "side ways" pulling.

the shelf liners have been talked about too. that would be safe & would probably help.
the only possible problem i see w/ that is maybe the shelf liners may tend to bunch up as the pad tries to shift w/ a person as they turn.
but it may be worth a try. wouldn't cost much to find out.

the stuff they sell so rugs don't slide on wood floors is great to keep therma rests and other pads from slipping.
seems like when therma rests came out, the same product was marketed as "spider mat" for this purpose.
also good for keeping a trackball mouse where you want it on your desk etc.

It would probably be a simple matter to attach strips of the liner to the bottom of the pad. Either by glue or even sewing. In fact I believe I read that some people perforate their pads to help with moister any way. And if your sewing on a few small strips instead of carrying a larger piece it may save some weight.

Thats not a bad idea, I could just a little which could help but not bunch up and add too much weight.

you may have already seen this approach, & i'm not sure how successful people have been w/ it, but some have simply added stripes of seam seal to the bottom of the pad & let it cure for several days, to create a "rubbery, non-slip" bottom.

I am heading away this weekend for 4 nights out along the bibbulmun track here South of Perth and have just found out it will be between 0 and 9 F.

I am thinking now about placing a full length but cut with a taper at each end CCF pad under the hammock between the underquilt.
Has anyone done this? do you think it will work?
