Thursday night is forecasted to dip down to 26F.
Fork Creek Trail area for Saturday nights camp. From that side the miles would be a lot lower on Saturday but the river and Laurel Fork creek are great places to explore.
If you are looking forward to a longer hike on Saturday, I would estimate from the Fall Branch Trail campsite to somewhere near the river on Laurel Fork Creek to be around 12 miles give/take based on where saturdays camp ends up.
I had already thought about that esp since you mentioned it a few pages back.
Who knows we may do the Fall Branch trail in for Friday and back out on Sat then drive over to the Charit Creek trailhead. It looks like the Black House Branch trail is 2 miles to the Laurel Fork Trail.
It is a long drive from Bandy Creek to the lodge trailhead

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
Yo! I am still hoping to go, school is being a pain with graduation in December. I just had the moms put together a nice underquilt as well, so looking forward to trying it out!

Aces PLEASE come! Haven't had a spirited discussion in a while!
who is hiking in on Saturday and where are you starting? Jimmie Neutron wants to know.
Not to alarm anyone but the fire last Wed. was a prescribed burn. My curiosity comes from observing a super hot spot that was on my side of the mt.that glowed for two nights even after a rain. It's my view from my yard so naturally it's calling me to find out how it turned out.
The eastern side is where the mt adjoins the AT but my side is the western side and I can hike up there all day and not see a soul.
Here's a over-look on the western side looking over the foothills where I live.
