    First hang!

I had my first hang yesterday with my Grand Trunk. I ordered some straps, toggles, and whoopie slings from Arrowhead.

I was amazed how quickly it went up. Here are a couple of pics. I put a tarp over it to try it out. Need to make some adjustments and educate myself more on the whole ridgeline concept. Thanks for looking.

How NOT to get into a hammock....

I tried again and was successful! Thanks for all of the great tips and videos here on the forum.

Setup looks good, landing looked a little rough. Finished product looked familiar. Peaceful and contented, like a first hang should look.

That looks like you had a great first hang. It only gets better from here. I think many of us have ended up on the ground trying to dial in our rigs.

So true. First or second time I got in, flipped out backwards much to the delight of my 10 yr old.

Congrats on the first hang! I've got 3 nights under my belt and loving it. Still lots of tweaking to do but that part is fun too.

Looking good there! Just curious how big your tarp is? It looks like the tarp is secured to different trees. Judging on the length of your hammock suspension, it looks like there should be enough room to attach the tarp to the same trees as the hammock unless the tarp ridgeline is really long and wouldn't fit. If the tarp was too big for diamond configuration, it looks like it could have been set up in the rectangular configuration and still provide adequate coverage. There seems to be enough tarp tie outs on the tarp for that.

Is that a GT Double?, cuz it looks just like mine. I got it to see if the wife and I can both fit in it, and while we can, it's not likely to work for anything more than just a short period. However, sleeping in it like having a king sized bed all to yourself.

The tarp is actually a square 10'x10'. I wanted to try the diamond. Due to the size I think rectangular is the way to go with this. Thanks.
