    Tarp / Poncho

Has anyone seen or made a full size tarp that doubles as pocho?
All I can find in poncho/tarp combinations is sort of 130x 250cm.
That might work as a solo shelter on the ground, but my NX 250 won't fit.
So I am looking to find a tarp which is large enough to give me plenty of shelter and still protects me and the backpack from rain.
After a lot of try and error I came to the conclusion that nothing is breathable in tropical climate, and the poncho has the best cover & ventilation.
Any ideas? Ideas on what to do with the extra material ( what I mean is that a big tarp might be a bit wide and long, and might have to be tucked in or something..?)
    Thanks

I had a look for the sil nylon version:
    http://www.seatosummit.com/products/display/6
    Same dimensions but 12oz.
I just worry about the 140cm / 55' width, and I feel it might be a bit short too (260cm/ 102').
Is that small or is it just me, beeing used to 280x 300 ( 9'x10') tarps.
I still want full weather protection for the hammock and also some room to cook and sit dry.

I don't think you will find one. If I wanted to go that way I would look at a two piece tarp set up with the poncho as one piece. Thinking a bit more I would look at doors on the add on.

That would be one big poncho to wear.

Recently received my custom Zpacks cuben fiber tarp.

It's a scaled down version of the Zpacks hammock tarp with doors (10' ridge, x 5' baseline, x 7' width) that is a poncho and pack cover as well. He used the same 0.74 black cuben that he uses for his non-breathable rain gear. The poncho tarp got some great use in poncho mode on the prehike in to MAHHA - I was dry, my pack was dry, and I was well vented. Joe came up with some creative solutions to a lot of the problems that have plagued hammock poncho tarps.

More info in the thread I'll be posting tonight/tomorrow.

Hennessy makes two poncho/tarps. The larger one is a parallelogram (as with all of the Hennessy minimalist diamond tarps) that measures 175 cm x 279 cm, with diagonals that are 348 cm and 305 cm (about 11.5 ft by 10 ft).

    Hope it helps!

It can be done. After a Couple of paper models I found the solution.
it is a full size tarp 10"x9", incl. doors, and a full functioning poncho.
Now- who lifes in the Northern Rivers and is a thread injection expert?

Poncho tarps can work. But they do come with their own problems.
If its a poncho, it will be big and kind of awkward for wearing on the trail.
If its a tarp, the coverage will be minimal at best.
If it is raining and your under the tarp and need to relieve yourself, you'll need to pack everything up, so the hammock doesn't get wet. Or you go out and get wet.

If those are acceptable chances for you, yes, the poncho tarp works.
