Ridgeline Gear Stash

I am making some ridgeline gear stashes for myself and some friends and playing with different ideas. I just wanted to get some input from you guys.

Right now I am using noseeum, trimmed in bias tape, with a small piece of velcro for a closure.

A couple things I was thinking of trying was mesh from DIY Gear Supply and folding over grossgrain for the trim. I was also thinking about using a small strip of magnet inside the grossgrain for the closure versus the velcro.

The description says that the mesh is more resistant to tearing than the noseeum, not that I think this will be an issue with this application, but more than anything I think it would be nice to have the bag expand if needed.

Any words of wisdom?

The only thing I'd be worried about with the magnet is putting electronic devices (my cell phone comes to mind) or my wallet (with all of the magnetic strips on...well...every card I have) near it. While it's unlikely that a small magnet such as that would have a significant effect on either of those, why not play the odds?

Perhaps a small toggle and loop sewn to it? Or, omni tape instead of regular velcro?

How about a plastic snap? They're fairly easy to tug apart, but will stay shut when you want it to.

I made all of the covers for the cushions on my couch and that's what I used.

I didn't think of the magnetic issue with electronics. The magnets would have been very weak but like you said why play the game.

I like the snap idea, wife suggested this as well, just means I have another item to use my 50% off at AC Moore coupon on.

I am also going to include a loop of guyline for each mitten hook. This will keep tension on the stash and still allows for easy removal.

I'd actually recommend the noseeum you're using now. The mesh you linked does stretch a bit, but really not that much, not enough to account for the extra weight in that application, in my opinion.

I like the fold-over closure, kind of like a sandwich bag closure. It's pretty secure, and no need for velcro - which can snag on mesh.
