    Let the Wind Blow.

So guys this weekend I went to a scouting camporee. What a great time we all had. 22 troops and 300+ people there. Out of that number there was 1, I repeat 1, hammocker. That's right I was the crazy fool. LOL. I first started off using Alamosa's inventive conduit pipe setup it the stake anchors. Well unfortunately they didn't hold in the least. We here in Massachusetts have had over 40" of rain since August. So that is not going to work. I had to drive (2) 2.5 steel bars into the ground to anchor the poles and from there a couple of guylines on the sides. That night we had winds gust up to roughly 20-30 mph. Every time the wind blew I was wondering if that was the last time I was staying up. So needless to say I didn't sleep at all that night. Though I did stay up all night with no problem. Also my Superfly performed superbly. I am still working on getting my Hammock Gear 0* phoenix to work flawlessly. Though when I did get it to work properly I was warm and toasty and slept great the second night.
So take a look and enjoy some of the pics.

This was only my second outing with it and it held up very well. I had shock cord on each tie out point so that also helped absorb the stretch. It sealed out the wind with no problems.

Nice, very nice. I can relate to alot of what you have said. We had our camporee this weekend, with about 600 scouts and adults. And, to quote you, "Out of that number there was 1, I repeat 1, hammocker. That's right I was the crazy fool." I was using my DIY stand with a couple of 2x4s. I had previously made/tested Alamosa's boom anchors, with no success. I went with the tried and worked method of using 24" rebar. I had no worries about coming down in the middle of the night. Glad you didn't end up on the ground in the middle of the night. The wind sure makes a difference with the insulation. Nice pics.

Couldn't use a couple of those trees in the photo background?
