    No-Sew tarp pull-outs?

Curious if anyone has ever tried anything like this for side pullouts on a tarp.
    http://homehardware.ca/en/rec/index....72047?Ntt=tarp
the idea seems pretty sound (stronger the tension, the stronger the grip, doesn't require any fancy sewing, grips up to 150lbs, etc)

another option would be these: http://homehardware.ca/en/rec/index....72017?Ntt=tarp

    any thoughts?

On thick stuff it would good. But on thin stuff like sil I think it would make holes after a while.

I think those work better on an edge than where side pull outs go.
Google grip clips. That is what you want.
Here ate DIY grip clips: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=30155
The link shows a prototype. I eventually made them w bigger buttons and plastic chain links dipped in plastidip. The plastidip keeps the grips from sliding.

    +1 on Grip Clips.

I've had them on one of my tarps for 2 seasons with no visible wear.

    Pan,

Are those the same size as the Sierra Designs grip clips?

    Grip clips work great.
A small piece of rubber between the grip clip and silnyl is helpful. Some use pieces of balloons for this.

Has anyone ever used the small smooth stone under the tarp and cord tied around it?
I would think either would work.

I know I've done that with a poly coated tarp, can't remember if I've done it in silnyl.

I've done that on Tyvek.. works great.

Somewhere out there, there's a thread where some folks (ok, me) took a piece of plastic chain, coated it with plasti-dip, added a large button (tied, of course). Worked like a charm....

Now I can't find the thread, though...
