I give. I built it. I'm going to bed now... In the back yard...

This and the HUG (Dejoha's half-bugnet) may fundamentally change my hammock from the zippered - attached bugnet mode to a more minimalist approach.

So far, I like the stretch-side...

Has anyone made a double layered stretch side and used a pad in the sleeve?

I've made a couple of them and it works great.

I built a side stretch for my dad and he loves it! I measured the hem and sewed button holes to run the shock cord through. I then sewed the anchors close to the hole so the entire whipping goes inside the button hole to help protect it. You can see the whipping a bit in the pic but when anchored to the other side it disappears inside the channel Thank you Knotty for sharing the inovation. I am working a new hammock for a friend of mine, and I have a few idea's on how to hide the anchor end completely.

You can hide it all between layers if you're making a double layer hammock.

First pic...shock cord channel on the left, cord lock on the right.

Finally had a chance to build one of these today! It's not a lightweight, the local sew shop had a good deal on some heavy ripstop, but man, is it ever comfortable.

First DIY hammock...turned out great, real happy. Thanks for the instructions Knotty!

    Cheers

You're welcome Callahan. Since you built it from a heavier material, is you plan to use it for around the house and/or car camping or are you just willing to take the weight penalty on the trail? For around the house I prefer heavier hammocks. It's nice the way they support you and the feeling of confidence you get from the extra strength.

You bet, I have a covered porch in my backyard, and the intent was to build this one for durability, so that I can leave it out in the backyard, and utilize it whenever I like without having to worry about it getting wrecked. It will also be my go to car camping hammock. With adustable webbing, biners and buckles, its nearly 28ozs! Should hold up to whatever the family and I can throw at it! I did make it 11ft long finished, and I lay absolutely flat in it. Great design!

    Cheers
