    Backpacking Light Mag

Anybody like this magazine -- online or print? Online it does include a section under gear for hammocks. Looks like they reviewed a lot of hennesseys, and a speer, and a eagle's nest.

Many of us on this site are BPL members. I only occasionally read the online mag, but I do like to read their reviews and some interesting things show up in the forum there.

    yep, i'm a member.
my basic thoughts are that i don't see myself getting to the same "ultralight" style of hiking that most of those folks do, because i "hike to camp" rather than "camp to hike".
but i can sure learn a lot about gear & technique that takes my pack weight down considerably.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

    BPL - love it!

BPL and this site are the two greatest things that have happens to my hiking/backpacking/camping experience. This one has taken care of all the hammock issues, and BPL has helped me restructure my gear list so I enjoy getting whereever I'm going. Priceless!

I have to say that I generally like BPL.com. I think that they do some really nice gear reviews of gear Im actually intrested in. Thier review of the SMD Comet was part of the reason I chose that as my new pack. I enjory a majority of the articles that the appaear on the site and in the print version. Although BPL.com can some times get a little too prechy for my taste. Although, like anything, you have to take it with a grain of salt.

I'm a member...while I find the magazine interesting I susbscribe more to support BPL than for the articles in it...I really like their reviews although there's not much about hammocks...I'm a fan of Andrew Skurka and other long distance, ultralight distance hikers...I love their podcasts and photos...I'm following Erin and Hig these days...

Thanks guys! Good to hear there is a good mag out there! I am thinking of putting my mag dollars toward it instead of backpacker mag.

It is totally different than Backpacker...it is more like a small paperback book and they emphasize the gear they sell...like the Bushbuddy stove...their articles are much longer with much more depth...Backpacker has it's place but depth or accuracy is not one...NEVER use them as a trail resource...I honestly wonder where they get their info...sometimes I think they just look at topo maps and go for it...Ryan Jordon and his crew write about what they know...I like their expertise...

Bush Buddy/wood burning stove post moved to it's own thread.
