    FYI: Eddie Bauer Sale

    Hey all,

I visited my local Eddie Bauer today and noticed they had some great deals on down gear. You can get a 900/800FP down sweater for under $150. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the market for one but I figured I'd pass the info on. They also have the deals going on their website. Check it out!

I just wanted to add Eastern Mountain Sports (ems.com) has a nice sale on similar items.

I guess its down sale season!

Instead of getting a new jacket I opted for a pair of Frye boots. Something cool about a pair of boots your parents used to wear that are still in style today!

Maybe some of you guys could take advantage of the deals. I tried the Eddie Bauer "micro" style jacket and it is quite nice, the cut was just weird for me. No worries, from powerlifting my body messes up most traditional cuts in clothing. My GF said I look like the stay puft marshmellow man or the michelin man

OK, I caved in and went for the E.B. 1st Ascent Downlight vest. $90 + free delivery until tomorrow.

It has 800 FP down & a superlight 20 denier shell.

I have their down sweater which is the same with sleeves and it is a great lightweight piece of backpacking gear that you just don't expect from a mainstream producer.

this particular item isn't for polar expeditions, but it's perfect for fall & spring or layering in colder weather.

Do you know how this jacket is?

    or the vest??

what are the differences in fill? I know the down is of higher quality but it looks like the 550 fills they just make puffier. Does this mean it won't compress as well? Does this mean it is less warm?

I am jonesing for some down gear but I am trying to find myself a good deal. Haha.

I couldn't resist either. I picked up the First Ascent hooded downlight. The best and jacket are nice so I grabbed the hooded version too.

The 550 fill has full feathers, not just the plumes. It also has more feathers and doesn't pack as small. Some of the EB down gear also have fleece liners. They are great for wearing around town, but not for the gram weenie.

I told you guys earlier, they had a few sales in the past couple of weeks. The first sale had better deals than the down sale they just had Don't get me wrong, they're still great deals.

I picked up the Men's Downlight Sweater a couple of years ago and use it on almost all my backpacking trips. Primarily to sleep in. Really like it but it seems way more expensive than what I originally paid for it. oh well.

I almost bit on a downlight sweater for under 100 bucks in the store. Probably should have.

I got the jacket/sweater a while back too, when they had the super sale. its a little tight in the chest, but the next size up was too long in the arms. the WM flash fits much better, but for the price (iirc, $60) the EB jacket was a steal. I wouldnt mind checking out the vest.
