Very enjoyable video. I don't think I saw one other person in your video. Just the two of you how cool is that. Thanks for posting your TR.
I was thinking like our lakes here in the TVA system that after Labor Day the jet skis and motorboats clear out so I asked the local expert at the take out when leaving about the crowds. He said you could come here in July on a weekend and not see that many boats...it's just that big and the huge plus for paddlers is that the water is too shallow in many places for the motorboats....in some places as you saw too shallow for the kayaks! but those are easily avoided if you want.
Another plus was the distance from any major pop. center so the sky was clear and full of stars. I think if you wanted to you could do a 3 day paddle amongst these islands and accrue some significant mileage weaving them.
Like all places I concern myself about the vehicle while out. Harry's Fish Camp was aware and let us keep the car behind a fenced in area-but we did spend the night there before paddling.
The steaks were great Shug-but no better than the spuds and onions HA! The kayak really is almost immune to the weight of the skillet.
Hawk-eye, I've already started looking for pics of the church that was, in its heyday.
I think a bunch of us will head back to that same area once its all ice and snow up here to bikecamp on the Palmetto Trail. It's divided into 'passages' and the one near Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie look like good riding with countless places to hammock.
Good video MM. Looks like a fine place to paddle and hang. I know i would get distracted for long periods of time in the cypress stands,,beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I have had my eye on the Lake Marion area for some time now. Some of the Paddling.Net folks are familiar with Sparkleberry Swamp, which sounds like a gem of a destination.
One of these days.......

Jsaults....def. hook up with a guide for Sparkleberry....BrazilBrazil can point you in the right direction. You CAN get lost there...the trail is marked, kinda, barely, sometimes not at all.
But it is one of the more incredible inland paddles on the east coast...up there with Juniper Springs Run (you are going to the Florida hang aren't you), and the Great Swamp in New York.
Dad has health problems, so most of my free time is taken up with him. Maybe next year.....
That is not the first time I have heard those comments about Sparkleberry! Sounds like a guide and a GPS are mandatory.

Great stuff, I need to get a kayak and get to some of these beautiful spots you all get too!
