Good having those winter tarps with doors.
That's a beautiful section of trail. I've not done that one in winter, but I have had to break the ice off my hammock suspension to get it loose.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I am a warm sleeper and took my HG 40F summer TQ and UQ figuring it would be find for 35. Then came the freeze warning. I'd been checking the weather but we left Mississippi at 4:00am in order to have time to hit the trail. I didn't know about the late change in weather and the freeze warning.

The real problem was my history of having problems bonking. I have to be more careful hydrating and fueling than others. I've been through this for years. I've done multiple century bike rides and 100+ mile rides but am always working extra hard to keep my blood sugar and electrolytes inline. I am good at monitoring it too. In this case, I simply depleted more during that last few miles of climbing though rhododendron piles that I could take in.

If anyone is from that area and want to go out for a day hike, I'm serious about the reward. I'll be up front and honest, in the pocket of that jacket are a very nice pair of Shure in ear headphones. These are $200+ ShureSE425 headphones/monitors that I borrowed. I'm sick about it but at the point I realized I'd lost my jacket, I needed fuel and rest more than them. If anyone is up for a good deed, I'll pay $50 reward...as a matter of fact, I'll make it $75 reward thankfully. If not, I'll be replacing them at full price.

Some time trips don't go as planned, but it was smart of you to know that and make the right move. Bummer about your jacket and I hope you make it back out there soon.

P.S. That lantern you sent me works fantastic! I used it this past weekend to read a book and was really thrilled with how well it worked. Thanks again!

If I lived closer i'd do it for you for free. I know all about the electrolyte issue. I have to take a supplement everyday.

I left a perfectly good set of tree straps on this trail last November...not the last night either!
