Just sew a fold of netting inside the hole. When you cinch the draw cord, the excess netting will fill the spaces.

Forgive me,I'm not yet familiar with all the HF jargon. My plans were to use nylon edging and leave a 6 inch round hole for the hammock (in skins) to pass thru. Then sew on velcro(aka hook n loop) to close the holes around the RL.You guys have more experience with this so my idear my be trash.
Nothing to see here. Keep moving.

Velcro and netting do not play nice together!

True. Oil and water mix better than Velcro and netting.

Another idea for the draw string bottom rather than a zipper is to pull it closed while you are in it, then tie the excess string behind the channel creating another closing. Please don't tar and feather me for not knowing knots... but I'm sure there is a perfect "synching" knot for such use that is easily untied. 2c... and I'm sure even a simple over hand knot would suffice depending on the slippage of the cord used.

RE: the bottom closure. I made mine according to the original design (shock cord closure) but haven't found it necessary to even cinch it closed. Skeeters don't seem to enter from the bottom, and it is much easier to enter and exit the hammock without having to fuss with opening /closing.

I'm a skeeter magnet and I have also found that skeeters don't seem smart enough to enter through the bottom. I don't cinch my bottom up much at all.

I had a bad experience lately where some skeeters kept finding there way in through the top of my bug net. I had it so it synched up at one end. I think im going to switch to a bottom syncher.
St. Lawrence was a Christian deacon tortured to death by the Romans in AD 258. According to legend, Laurentius was martyred on a iron grill over a fire, during which ordeal he is said to have quipped to his persecutors: "Turn me over. I'm done on this side!"

Have been fortunate to cinch the bottom.

Suggest using a long enough piece of shockcord so that it can be stretched over either end of the hammock when not in use.
