Tennessee Noob

Not a total Noob. Have used some Wal-Mart net type hammocks and a net type Mayan hammock that a friend had. Got cold butt syndrome. Just purchased a DD hammock and waiting for it to arrive. I got it due to the double layer bottom. Will be taking it to Florida come January and staying for a while. Will be adding a pad but it Can get a bit chilly. I figured if the camping pad isn't warm enough I can always add some pine needles to the pocket to add extra insulation. Any suggestions on a camping pad? Learning how to better hang a hammock and tarp and techniques for a warmer backside and winter hangs is my knowledge deficit. Have been watching a lot of youtube to learn more. So, far I have never done any serious winter camping. Would love to though. My back cannot handle the weight and hard ground of a tent set up. Sleeping bag will be a military issue down. Dunno its rating. Will try to join the Florida hang at Buck Lake if I can get down there in time.

Thanks for all the welcome posts. I WILL be joining the Florida Hang barring Murphy's law of course. Got a ride from the Greyhound. My friends may stay and may not. They will for sure be checking out all the hammocks. They are "VAN" campers at least during winter months down in Florida. Wild Bill has a cabin next door and his buddy Stoney travels around during the warmer months to flea markets selling knives. He stops in here on occasion to visit and camp in route. Never know they might get hooked on hammock hanging. After the Florida Hang and the Rainbow Gathering the next month I won't be such a noob anymore. Stoney lives in his van year around or out of a car. I think they both would be better off sleeping in a hammock.
