    Quick overniter to Elk Island

Went out last night with my buddy Bill for a guick one nighter. Hiked 4km into Oster Lake campground in Elk Island National Park. For those that don't know bison roam the park freely. We ran into many on the way in, at the camp and on the way out.
It was windy but clear, dropping down to just above freezing through the night. It was a bit warmer when we woke up this morning and the sunrise looked promising but faded out as the clouds rolled in.

Awesome! Has anyone ever had a problem with the bison? That's so cool to see such a huge animal walking around out there.

I'm guessing that they are fairly docile beasts Scott, I'm hoping that they are anyway, they look BIG. Great pics too, looks like a nice spot for a quick getaway.

We ran into many on the way in, at the camp and on the way out
You might have to clarify that one, I have a picture of you walking along, not seeing one and bouncing of its side by accident

Great pics Scott. The Bison must have been a treat. I wonder how well bison chips burn

It's amazing how close you got to some of them based on your pictures. We couldn't get that close to them when I went to Catalina Island - only place that I know of in Southern California where Bison still roam freely.
