    At 35 oz, I'd say it may be ok for car camping, but I'd leave it way, way behind somewhere far, far in the depest depths of my closet when it comes to backpacking. JMHO.

    The JRB 8x8 is on sale for $50 right now: http://216.83.168.206/index_files/Pr...Nyl%20Tarp.htm It is very similar to the tarp you are looking at, just smaller. It is 9.5 oz., so that saves you 2 pounds, as well.

    It's a car camping tarp. For the price, I'd get a Kelty Noah 9 or 12 instead.
