Absolutely interested
When it seems like the night will last forever
And there's nothing left to do but count the years
When the strings of my heart start to sever
And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And dream me a dream of my own

As it turns out I can't do Nov 19th either. If you guys would like to have two hangs you are welcome to, obviously.
You guys are great to offer to help out a noob you've yet to meet! I just today took a nap in the Expedition 2.5. My trees are out front and neighbors really slowed to see just what the heck was going on (none stopped to ask though, busy people).
Later, after doing some catch-up bookwork, my package from HH arrived with my Explorer and hex tarp. I haven't even peeled them out of the plastic yet (had to have some dinner, and my dehydrator needed to be offloaded). I'm afraid if I open the package I'll be out in the dark hanging the new gear!
I'm wondering if my REI sleeping pad can work with a bottom opening hammock? It is long and wide and I don't think I can get in around it, or if I do, contort enough to get it back under me. (I plan on getting side zippers installed soon.) If I can't get on top of that pad (their 3.5" with better R value than others) I'll probably need to borrow a bottom quilt.
I've got a down quilt from IKEA that I can use for a DIY job, but need to get cracking on it. Someone just posted about a local fabric store that has a good supply for DIY hangers, so I'm here to look for 'blueprints' and parts list. (can you tell I'm engineer oriented?). I'd hoped to see your variety of choices before I stitched, but there may not be time for that.
I'll keep checking to see what date(s) for the hang gets settled on and start cracking on the BQ. With luck I won't need to accept your generosity, but am grateful to know I might sleep warm if I don't finish!
Many thanks!
Steve
Are we settling on Dec 3rd? Who's good on that date?
Haywire is my trail name, but I can't change it. Ha.
Noob here, very nice of you fellers to make the offer to show your gear. Two weeks ago I didn't know folks hung from trees. No gear as of yet, but plenty of reading in here and watching you tube vids. I would break plans on a weekend to make something like this.
