    Talking First solo overnight

So i have only been hiking for a little over a year and I am going on my first solo overnight. I have been wainting to go on a solo hike for sometime and since my girlfriend is having people over well its time, Plus i get to try out my new pack as well. I am looking forward to my solo overnight because I really want to do more then just one night solo, but i guess baby steps r best. I am only planning on doing 10 miles or so but the real test will be at night. This trip is to see how i manage at night. I have never been in the woods by my self at night and when your hiking solo everything changes. I cant wait till this weekend leaving sat morning.

    Peace out!!!!!!

I for one will be waiting for your trip report, with pictures and a video I hope.

Have fun, but remember you are going alone so make sure at least 2 different people know your route, schedual, and cell number. 10 miles is not a long way but if you are hurt it can be a long crawl.

Good luck, I hope everything progresses swimmingly! I went for a solo overnighter and decided it wasn't for me; I know some people that love it, though. Whatever you do, have fun!

How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?

Good luck, let us know how it goes. I'm hoping to take that step soon, I'm kinda short some equipment right now.

It's all in the mind. There lots of noises that mean nothing. Just enjoy the solitude.

Good luck and don't worry you will be fine. Just lay back and fall to comfy sleep in the hammock and the night will be over before you know it. The first night is the hardest but after that it is all good.

    + Solo

I prefer solo. You go when you want, stop when you want. Hike hard and you will sleep well. I tend to camp off the beaten path when by myself. If you stick to the areas where people and animals are least likely to go, you will enjoy more solitude. When I'm solo, I like to look for small camps and nooks near the tops of hill or from the edge of a meadow that allow me a wide view from my hammock. It is this freedom to go where you want and camp where want that make hammocks so appealing to me.

    Good luck,

    ~S~

I have yet to do a solo over night hang
But I kinda liken it to a solo Dive
As a Scuba Diver I really look foreword to the
Dive I do when I'm all alone in the water
The planing is the same I would think
As I would never go beyond my ability in the water
And will plane every little detail
I would do the same on a solo hike and hang
The first time will always be scary
but as long as you stay in your comfort zone
    You will do just fine
