    Adopted a little orphan

I bought this a couple of weeks ago from a guy on craiglist for $40. He didn't know if it worked or not, so I figured what the heck, it will cost me 40 bucks and an hour in the car to find out.

I am busy moving house at the moment so I won't get to have a really good look at it for a few more weeks. Even if it I can't get it to work, it's a pretty thing. I'm a design engineer, so I love it when form follows function. In these days of solid state technology it rarely does any more.

    It's a 99, made in 1923.

Thats one purdy machine you got there!

Not sure if I want it to work fine or if I'm jealous that you might get to look inside.

My mom has one of those! a 50s model but the same or only slightly updated model, I am sure. Those are great machines, I do agree.

    Have fun with it.

Nice, I just bought one last week, only difference is mine is a handcrank. Got the manual and attachments but still have not tried it out yet. Seems to turn smooth and looks in good condition.
It should sew through just about anything you want to try.

    Talking

I just fixed it up today. I took it round to the local Singer repair shop last week, the guy told me it was in good condition and mostly just needed a cleanup and oil. I re-wired the motor. It seems to be working well, not that I'm an expert.

One thing I notice is it seems to have a bit of a galloping stride, not an even sound. You can hear it towards the end of the video. Does anyone know if this is an indication of anything wrong?

Here you go. Eliminate this portion of the URL when you use the youtube tags:

Quote my reply, and it'll show you what I'm talking about (the stuff between the youtube tags is all you need).
