    Dutch Ware weight limits?

I was just over at JRB and noticed that the DutchClips now have a posted weight limit of 275# for the hangee. Hmmmmmmmm.

Dutch, is there a weight limit on the Dutch Buckles as well? I have not used mine yet, but plan on fiddling with one of my hammocks and trying out whoopies this weekend. As a certified hanger of >275# should I be concerned?

I have used my buckles for a total of 3 nights so far, and I am a 305 pounder...

I think the posted weight limit is a CYA thing. I too approach the 270 number and have hung on the DC for years with no concern. I love em.

As I tell kids with my camp chairs, the real secret is to not "flop" into the hammock creating undue strain.

The Dutch buckle video was done by BigTurtle, ask him! I'm not sure of his exact weight, but I know he's in the big boy club like I am.

I have been using Dutch Clips for a couple of years and I was close to 300 lbs when I started using them (down to 275 lbs now ).

Big Turtle is a big boy, don't know how much he weighs, but I know he is heavier than me.

With Dutch Buckles most of if not all the weight is on the strap. I think you will break the strap before you break the Buckle.

I really can't put a weight limit on it because all the weight should be on the webbing and not the device. So a lot depends on the webbing that people choose. The webbing that I offer is rated for 1500 and I test it to 1000 pounds. But I sell the buckle without the webbing. Then I am just hoping someone is using the correct webbing for thier weight. I should be thinking of safety and liability so if any one has any ideas how I can tell peole to match thier webbing with thier weight I'd like to add it. Something like " Hey you with the triple chin and the suit of armor, don't use grosgrain." Also as always hang angle has so much to do with it. That is why there is such a weight limit on the Clips. However I can get away with how thin the buckle is because the buckle is only being compressed really.

    Thanks for all the replies

and it is good to hear from Dutch hisself. I figures that the Buckles were up to the job, even though they are thin, but I had not seen a limit associated with the Clips previously.

I shall rest comfortably, and as always, never bounce.
