Really?!? I had always assumed it was filmed much further North (though truthfully I don't know why...maybe the Huron and canoes had something to do with it...). Now I would really love to see the Gorge. LotM is also one of my favs!

That's one good luck hat, Ken. And good luck for you that you have such friends as would mount a rescue mission looking for it!

The Gorge. One of these days, one of these days....It's only a day's drive away. (Of course, from East-Central Illinois I'm pretty much guaranteed to have to drive at least a day to get to any interesting hiking).

The historical event happened in New York ... but the movie was almost entirely in NC ... even at the carriage houses and road way at the Biltmore Estates. I'm such a LOTM fan I've tried to visit in the past all the movie sites! Geesh what a geek!

I can certainly understand your desire to visit all the sites filmed. I did the same thing on a two day trip to NYC I visited all the locations for Ghost Busters 1&2...yeah I'm a geek

I hear ya! In my case it's worse than that ... from a wee lad I read the Leather Stocking Tales, when we played I was always Nattie Bumbo (Hawk-eye) ... I've read anything and everything about the French and Indian War. I'm a serious F&IW Geek of the Fifth level! Ha!

When I hunted deer on a regular basis ... muzzle loader season was only Flint and Steel and patched round ball or it didn't happen!

    Yeah I got it bad
