if you're looking to go light and know you'll be getting an uq soon, you could go with a single 1.1 and just lay on the pad for awhile till you get the uq, good bit of weight savings by going single 1.1 if that's important

What about mosquitoes in the summer? won't they bit through a single layer?

i did a poll here on hf and asked this question to owners of my hammocks and nobody (out of quite a few responses) reported bugs biting through either of the single layer options (or doubles either), and i've also never had any customer mention being bitten through my fabric ever

I have both single and double hammocks from WB and have never noticed bug bites from underneath in either. Also remember even in summer you generally have a pad or an UQ underneath you which also helps prevent the skeeters from biting you from underneath
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Sounds like single layer is a good way to go because of weight. Any advantages to the double layer, besides putting a closed cell foam mat in between the layers? I'm not counting grams, but I don't like to carry useless weight, either.

Even in the summer heat you can get a wind that will chill you the bone in a hammock.
A dbl helps and saves you the CBS.

    What they said.

The double layer adds protection from mosquitoes, prevents a pad from moving during the night, and can allow for a flatter lay if you are near the weight threshold on the single layer version (the fabric will start to sag a little near the weight threshold).

The single layer is lighter and slightly less expensive.

mugs: I want a complete quilt setup eventually, but I can't afford it right now. I'm getting what I need in order of importance. I am also going to get Whoopie Slings and Dutch Clips eventually, as money warrants.

I decided to go with a WBBB because after I figured out how much my ENO, suspension, and bug net would cost and weigh, it just wasn't worth it for me.

Soon I'll be hangin' and happy!
there is a 1.0 double in the for sale section.

My 1.1 double came last week. I also got the camo Superfly. I haven't even set it up yet. Can't wait, though!
