How to post a "big" pic in a thread?

Need help from someone a little more computer savy than me, which would be most of you.

I can upload pics to the gallery, and can load pics from my computer while making a post/new thread. The problem is that all of my pics are just thumbnails. Sometimes that is all I need, but sometimes I would like them to be bigger. I have seen others post "big" pics with the thumbnail below. I just can't seem to figure this out.

I contacted 2 of the mods, 1 with no response, the other said he could walk me through if I was uploading from the gallery, but have had no other contact with him since.

So Mr/Ms. computer savy, please help the needy!!!!!

Most of the time, I am just as happy with the thumbnail, but sometimes I would prefer the larger pic. Now I have seen some that were just to big. The one that Kayak Karl posted is ideal. I just don't want to have to download to another site first.

Upload the pic you want to your HF Gallery.
In your gallery, click on the thumbnail of the pic you want to go to the larger version.
Under the pic, you will find the "Picture URL" and the "BB Code".
Copy the "BB Code" and paste it in your post where you want the pic to appear.
    Finish posting and you're done.

    Example...

Thanks, Gmcttr. I like the chair, this is the first I have seen one like it. Very cool. I made a Jerry Chair. But like this 1, up off the ground.

    Still just a thumbnail!!

I think to get the result you did, you must of copied the Picture URL, and not the BB Code. I believe the copying the BBcode will insert a clickable thumbnail to the larger image in the gallery. If I recall correctly, I think the forum limits the size of images in the gallery to 1280x960. My gripe on really big pictures, is the people with the 14 megapixel camera set to max resolution that upload to photobucket and link to the full size image directly in a forum post. Is it really that hard to resize your pictures to a smaller size? It saves file space on servers, and it makes them load faster on slower internet connections. Not everyone has blazing fast internet connections.

    Cheers

    Brian

    I'm just the opposite.
I love when someone posts a lot of pictures of their trip and I do not want to click thumbnails. They need to be sized so I don't have to scroll to see it all though.
