    detachable whoopies

I replaced my amstel whoopies with some dynaglide ones I made. Now I want to be able to detach the whoopies from my hammock and store them with my tarp to keep my hammock dry if they get wet.
I thought about making about a 10" length of dynaglide with locked brommels on each end. I could then thread these through the gathered ends of the hammock and use a dutch biner to attach the hammock to my whoopies! Would this work?

IMO seems like a lot of unnecessary work and wasted time.

I don't think the amsteel/Dynaglide absorbs water and I would not worry about the hammock getting wet. It should work though. HYOH!!

If the dynaglides don't absorb water, then I totally agree. It would be a waste of my time!
My amstel whoopies would get pretty wet. Wet enough to get my hammock wet when I stuffed it in the bishop bag. Good to know it won't happen with the dynaglide.
    Thanks

I don't know if it does absorb water, just thought it didn't. I may be mistaken. I have used my DIY hammock with whoopies in down pours and have never had a problem with the hammock getting wet when packed. Maybe I just have more of the whoopie under the tarp. I don't put my straps with them though. They are usually soaked after a rain shower.

I also pack my straps separately. My whoopies have never been so saturated to get my hammock wet....as of yet. I'm pretty careful as to how they are hung under my tarp though.

On my blackbird, I have a small loop of Amsteel girth hitched around each of the gathered ends. These have Dutch biners on them which allow me to disconnect my Amsteel whoopies. Although I don't disconnect them because there are ever wet, mostly when I want to use the whoopies on on other hammock. I suppose this could work with Dynaglide whoopies as well. Then again I don't think the Dynaglide would ever get wet enough to need removal.

Or just put fixed eyes in the tails of your whoopies and attach them to the ends of your hammock with a girth hitch (sometimes aka lark's head). They'll slip right off when you want them to. But it seems like an extra unnecessary step to me. But, hey! HYOH! Good luck!
