    First DIY Hammock

I completed my first hammock yesterday. I hung it up in my living room for a quick test, quick turned into watching tv in it the rest of the night. It is so comfy.
It is 1.9 ripstop with gathered/whipped ends. My suspension is tree huggers to rings with 24" Amsteel loops. I also have a structural ridge line at 111"( hammock is 135" inside whip to whip). As far as UQ/TQ I am using mummy bags for right now. My tarp for now will be a Wally World poly tarp.
I'm going to try and get it all set up in the backyard for a overnight test sometime this week. I'll try and get a vid of that, but I wanted to go ahead and post these cell phone pics. One is my kid watching tv, and one is my wife volunteering to help me adjust the bag for my UQ.

That's one BIG hammock. Big and comfy go hand-in-hand in the world of hammocks. Of course tarping becomes a bit of an issue but if you can get by with a poly blue tarp for now, go for it.

Sounds like a good length. When I have to replace mine I'm going a wee bit longer. Wish I could find fabric in wider lengths too. Oh well. I've got 3-4 feet between hammock and walls that would be comfier if it was filled with hammock and not whopie sling. They is good sleeping all year long.

I'll see how it hangs under the tarp. I might shorten it if need be. But it is sooooo comfy

If I use a sheet bend to shorten it will the ripstop take any wear? In the case I test it and think it's too short.
If my tarp doesn't give me the coverage I want I might shorten the hammock a little bit a the time until it's not as comfy as it was...then dial it back.

Looks like I'm going to be adding that hammock post to the backyard tomorrow

Hammock, SB UQ & TQ, tarp...sounds like you've got all you need for a successful hang.
