VIDEO: A Week Hangin' with Mors K., FourDog, et al (Parts 1 & 2)

Here's a video of snippets taken from a week in MN with the fellow FourDog calls "the Dali Lama of the Woods" and "The Great K'chanski", Mors Kochanski, author of "Bushcraft" and renowned teacher.

I hung 10 days in my vintage Speer setup, including Speer Hammock, Speer Winter Tarp, Speer Snugfit and Speer Top Blanket. I also used my Molly Mac Gear Hamarak (canvas sock). We made 14 Quick-No-Thread-Injector Hammocks for folks, and converted several more to hangin'.

    Here is Part 1:

    ...and here is Part 2:

I'm really sorry I wasn't able to do the multi-day course before the Winter Camping Symposium, but the video helps convey a sense of it! Thanks!

Great report, Mac. We would make a similar structure whenever we were out for an extended time in the woods and then use it as a sauna. It is important to learn to become part of the woods and not just a trespasser.

What a Great Opportunity to Learn!

Loved the shelters! It took me back to my childhood....When I was a kid we had a bush we would hollow out underneath by weaving the inner branches outward underneath. Leaving the outward branches to cover the inner structure. Mom never knew we had a little hide away place in it! I would build small fires in there and roast hot dogs when I knew Mom wasn't around so she wouldn't see the smoke.
Next time I see you I want you to show me how to make the cord he was making please! I'd love to take a course like this sometime.

Thanks Mac. Great video thanks for taking us along. Looks like a lot of great stuff was taught. I would love to try and make it one year to the Symposium. It looks like a whole bunch of fun. And every time I hear or see any thing about your hammock sock it makes me get all warm and tingly inside and xited to receive mine.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
