    Smile Hotel rooms all booked?

I travel everywhere with my hammock. Once I had to be in a city for a convention, but all the hotel rooms were full.
So I rented a U-haul truck for $19 and change, slung my hammock in the back of the truck and slept well.
Bathoom? I picked up a used laundry soap bottle and cut the spout out of it. In the morning, I watered the bushes.
Shower, change. Rather than use a gym, I paid a maid at a motel (tres dollares) and used the shower in a vacated room. Shaved. Fresh as a daisy, made the convention and sold my outdoor books to dealers.

LOL i just yesterday iam driving north from florida to pa and I went by a storage unit and told my wife we could sling hammocks up in one of those for the night, she laughed and i told her a similar story about me and a buddy needed a room for the night while going to a concert and we rented a uhaul for the 3 minute drive to the concert and camped in the back of it! we didnt even register fuel loss and it only had 6 miles on the odometer when returned. We thought it was a genius move that no one else would think of until i just saw your post! Nice move! lol

Love that story. Also, I'm seriously contemplating painting the soles of my work boots. (It's in the book, folks. Worth looking for.)

Great solution when you could not get a hotel, heck you just go there to sleep and shower anyway and you saved a few bucks too.

I'll have to remember that next time I have to travel for work.

I'll bet the trucks might even have spots in the body of the truck to hang from built right in? That's something I figured the rental locker might not have, is load bearing support brackets high up on the wall.

It's a really creative and interesting idea. However, I'm curious if you're able to lock the back of the truck from the inside? I know they can be locked from outside the truck. But I wouldn't want to have some thugs open it up to find me sleeping. Could be a rather stressful situation to say the least.

And if someone wanted to me mean they could lock it from the outside. I'd rather they open the door then I could introduce them to my "little friend" (Scar Face, Al Pachino) rather than get locked in.
