Wish it was in my back yard!
I can't buy something without first considering whether I could just make it myself instead. How'd I get so screwed up?

That's making me want to slumber away right about now. Great job.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
Thanks everyone. That is probably the biggest building project I've ever undertaken. It's very satisfying to actually lay in it. It's a little funny that now that it's done, I'm 1) thinking I could do a second one in about a week (this one took four months). and 2) What's the NEXT big project?
hey from a lil further south in AL. I was wondering if you had instructions on how to braid and attach the line to make this style of hammock? If so, I'd love to try my hand at one as well.
Looks Great ! Wish it where in my back yard.
I totally get the tool thing being single and doing my own projects around the house. The right equipment for the job always make a project go by quicker and smoothly! Yep new toys are fun!
The knot was harder to find instructions for than to actually make it (OK, almost harder), but it's called a "clew knot". An image search was the quickest way to find instructions. If you can't seem to find one, let me know and I'll see if I can find the original site I got it from.
Basically, once you decide how many strands you want, they all loop through your brass or steel ring. Anchor the ring (like under a heavy chair leg), straighten all the strands and fan them out, then just follow clew knot pattern. It's as easy as three strand braiding, but looks much cooler. ***Just be careful to follow the over under over pattern. don't worry about tightening it all up until you're done. Hope that helps!
Is Hammockry a real word? Can I claim it?
