If you are "dressing it up", check AHE.

Paul sells grograin in a couple of colors with a reflective stripe in the middle third.

I believe edging with polyester ribbon (grosgrain or satin) makes a much stronger channel end.

Sometimes I fold, sometimes I don't. I've not been able to tell a difference either way.

When I do fold, I do it all in one step as I feed it into this Plain Tape Binder Attachment.

I only use it when installing bug net so I don't have to mess with that. With just a GE hammock I don't see the need unless its to add that extra spark. Then I say go for it and good luck. I just finished a blaze orange tarp with royal grosgrain. I never did find the 3/4 or 7/8 I like to use and ended up going with 5/8. It was a pain but the end product is so worth it.

When you applied the grosgrain, did you roll the raw edge first or just fold the ribbon in half and surround the raw edge?
just putting it directly over the raw edge would be fine

    Again just MY opinion.
    +1 for satin ribbon

Yeah what Brandon said. That is a lot of material to sew through.

That attachment looks amazing! I'm definitely going to have to get myself one of those.

Ahh more stuff to buy. I like the feel of satin better and I take it that it's lighter as well.

I also think it's used on the edge of both my stock HH tarp & my OES MacCat.

I just haven't seen wear to purchase it yet.

I have made a tarp with rolled edges and with grosgrain and I can tell you grosgrain is the way to got. On the corners with a roll your sewing through 6 layers of material.
