    Another way to look at it is that for anything over about 550fp, a down quilt will be lighter than a similarly rated synthetic quilt. If I remember right, Primaloft (the closest synthetic to down) is about equivalent to 550fp. So to put it simply:
    0F synthetic quilt = X oz.
    0F down quilt = less than X oz. for high fp values.

    Exactly what I was looking for. So 550fp is the cutoff. Of course other factors come into play to decide which is better. But as far as warmth to weight at least, this is the mark.

    I am not a gram weenie, but am becoming a volume weenie.
    550 FP = synthetic as to weight seems about right anecdotally.
    But, it seems to me 550FP still compresses better compared to synthetics.

    Any thoughts on packing volume of down vs. synthetic?

    And Down doesn't lose it's loft (or at least as much) over time like the synthetics will...
