    Weight limits

So, i have an HHEA and the weight limit is 250lbs...is that really all it will hold or just what will be the most comfortable and such? I weigh about 230lbs and i was wondering if it would break or something if my girlfriend got in with me to take a nap or something. (she is 120lbs soaking wet). Could we try this or would something break?

The weight limits given by manufacturers are almost always understated, for safety and liability reasons. That being said, overloading thin nylon fabric by almost 100lbs beyond the stated rating might be a mistake you wish you didn't make. YMMV.

is that just the ropes and ridgline they are talking about or the actual hammock fabric. if it is the ropes and ridgline can't i replace that with stronger cord and i'm good?

so when i go abouts making one, how do i make it so it will rate to that weight.

The fabric is part of the system and figures into the rating. I would not put two people in that hammock myself.

    Weight limits:

Somewhere on the HH website it states that you could double the rated capacity without breaking anything, but the life of the hammock would be significately reduced.

But, if you replace the ropes with 1" webbing, like I have, you might have a bit of a jolt when trying it out.
