    Insul Bright?

Is this the same type stuff as IX? I saw this at Joann's and it was on sale so I picked up 2 yards. It weights 13 oz. So 6.5 oz a yard.

No not the same. Inul-Bright has a metalized poly film and is heavier than insultex. Roll Tide!!!

Good for making freezer bag cozies. Not much application in the backpacking world beyond that. Do a search here on the forum. You'll get some hits.

i have read that it is a combination of fleece fibers and reflective metalic something or other. i have also heard that one layer can add ten or so degrees. like insultex its breathable and resistive to water but is degraded when compressed. It looks like some neat stuff, cheap and easy to use even if perhaps its a little heavy. I plan to do some testing with it this winter in hopes that i can use it to bolster my 3 season UQ.
