There are so many types and weight rip stops, Which should I use for a hammock?
coated or uncoated? 1.7 1.9 1.1 1.3
I'm confused.

Uncoated (coated = non-breathable and will get you wet from the _inside_, e.g. sweat).
1.7 or 1.9 are common and strong for most weights.

Whereas my DIY is coated and more like 4 or 5 oz. confusion ended.
An emergency of my own making...is still an emergency.
Thanks a bunch
Seriously though, mine is more of a storm shelter. The uncoated is the better choice.

Just to make things muddier, some of us light-weights use 1.1

Bugs: You don't need me to make you look like a fool.

When it seems like the night will last forever
And there's nothing left to do but count the years
When the strings of my heart start to sever
And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears

And dream me a dream of my own

It also depends on how much sag you like.
I am 185 and I do fine in the 1.1 fabric hammocks but I prefer hammocks with 1.7 or even 1.9 because it gives me less sag and seem to give me a flatter lay.. That includes double layer hammocks...
It gets worse, some fabrics use denier instead of weight. For example how does 1.7 compare to 30 d?
