What are peoples setup's when hanging indoors?
I was thinking of raw bolts similar to what you'd use to hang a plasma TV on the wall, but our house is quite old and im not sure the bricks or mortor would be upto the stress.....

I use 4-holed pad eyes as Knotty recommended. I read that the single bolt solution might be prone to sudden failure because there's a single attachment point. I'm a scaredy cat and wouldn't be able to relax in the hammock with the thought in my head that my anchors might fail.My pad eyes have 4 screws, but there are pad eyes with 2 screws as well. That said: I think there are quite a lot of people in the forum who hang from lag bolts.
I use what Knotty uses too. You get them from Bosum supply.
I have 4 places in my place that I can hang, all of them are nothing more then 3/8 screw eyes... Buy a stud finder, get center, pre drill (something smaller then 3/8) then install screw eye... Me and the girlfriend can hang in one with no problem.. Use coners, or walls that are load bearing, or better yet, the walls that have plywood and siding on the oppisite side..
Markie if you have any doubts about the structural integrity of your walls. Check out some of the free standing stands. This is my first now used nightly.http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...hammock+stands
My second is a turtlelady stand variant which I am now traveling with to N. Ga. and Va.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
I've hung mine in the basement using the handrail from the stairs and a screw hook in a stud. Seems fine so far.
Depends on the handrail and the load. I'd snap some of the handrails I've seen and I'd rip the posts right out of the ground. Remember, you are putting a pretty good load on there. Me, I'm about 2 of your loads to start with. Closet and window doublers that are well secured to the base and top plates. The 4 screw plates that Knotty uses would be excellant on a double header with the load going across two boards and into the boards over 2 screws, usually meaning more surface area holding screws then just one big eyebolt. But I've been 8 months on these eyebolts with narry a problem, other then may Carabiners always seem to be just at a place where when swinging they will tap a bit.
Speaking of wich, time to crawl in the hammock for another day to excel!
