    if it's not a true coating, then i doubt it would be suitable for tarps. fabric is woven, and just like mesh it has thousands of tiny holes between the fibers, simply making the fibers themselves superhydrophobic wouldn't stop water from being pushed through the weave under pressure(rain), you have to have a coating that will plug up these holes. still, it looks pretty cool and i bet it would give good results on breathable fabric, although i can pour water on my current dwr fabric and it beads and runs off just as well...chocolate syrup, maybe not so much.

    I just watched this vid today. Even if it's not breathable there are still a bunch of applications I can think of.
