    Not a silly comment. 3M reformulated Scotchguard because the original formula did not biodegrade. ADM tried to make a biodegradable trash bag by loading the plastic with corn starch but all it degraded to was a plastic mesh. The point is that it is not desirable to have most things last forever unless you want to be buried in worn out junk.

    Sounds like a possible substitute for silnylon and an easier process.

    Sound and looks very interesting, and lots of possible uses. But I too am interested in the environmental impact of a product like this.

    Don't just think of the kayak, think all ships, boats and barges. Would it reduce drag? If it did by a just a bit, that's a big fuel savings, our largest expense, and it would all over every commercial boat/ship in no time.

    But, what happens to the sweat and other goo of your body on the inside if it doesn't travel out. Am I going to have liquid me overflowing my shoes? It'd be like wearing latex.
