The "Kammok Hammock" buzz caught my attention and I joined the Kickstarter effort so that eventually I'd get to lay hands on one. While I recognized most of the marketing about it as being, well, mere marketing, I was interested in seeing this "LunarWeave" fabric up close and in person.
The hammock (called the "Roo"), a pair of "Python Straps" and a big double sided bottle showed up on Friday. I had some time to play around with the hammock and put together a video review.
The synapsis? This is a heavier than usual hammock for the design class, but the LunarWeave stuff is really nice to the touch, and likely more resilient to small tears than other nylon fabrics (although this was one test I wasn't going to do). My guess is that it will stretch a little less than stock 70D ripstop, but I have not cooked up an experiment to test that, at least not yet.
The Kammok folk will need to pay attention though to some other details if they want light-weight backpacker's business, and naturally, I give them some pointers on how to lighten up the Roo.
The Roo has displaced my ENO as my "carry in a car to lounge around in" hammock.
