DIY Triangle Thingies

...are these worthwhile to have for a full-length UQ?

I use them with my full length and they hold the underquilt perfectly with or without a ridgeline too. They are very easy to adjust even when in the hammock, just reach up and pull or loosen each side as needed to get a snug fit under you.

I received a pair with the underquilt I picked up here used(full length), and made a new pair for the quilt I've got in the works now(4/5ths size, lol).

I attach mine with a small biner onto the fixed eye of the whoopie sling. Then the 2 sides run over the ridge or hammock and hang over. Those have shock cord run through them with a cord lock. Cord lock keeps them from coming out of the grosgrain. the other side of the shock cord has a biner attached and that hooks to the underquilt. To raise or lower the quilt just pull the shock cord and move the cord lock down, very simple.

Does anyone know the finished dimensions of triangle thingies that are specifically for full UQs? Seems as though most are in the 10"-12" range for smaller UQs - assume I should go smaller than that for my full-size UQ? Thanks in advance for info!

Would it be possible or functional to just make the whole thing out of grossgrain. Since the tie outs are probably putting most of the stress on the GG lining the triangle, If you just had the grossgrain and took the fabric out of the middle you would have a lighter, less bulky triangle thingy.

I originally intended to make them out of nylon only, but with my less than stellar sewing skills the hems didn't turn out very well due to how the grain of the fabric ran. So I added GG to make them look better - but it seems that the nylon still distributes the pressure across the RL.

Yes, you could do GG only - my 1st attempt was simply nylon cord which served the purpose just fine (and was really light). I'm hoping the nylon will help distribute the pressure more evenly across a bugnet to prevent any damage. Will it? I don't honestly know - maybe someone can chime in who has a better answer.
